The company uses expensive 3D printing and milling machinery to quickly build prototype models of products to make design refinements and to show customers and partners. On a crisp December morning, Logitech director of hardware engineering Ali Moayer took us and several other analysts and journalists on a tour of the Newark building's video and audio labs, where products like the ConferenceCam are dreamt up, mapped out, prototyped, tested, and finally sent to the company's Shanghai, China-area factory for mass production. The Swiss computer peripherals maker leaves no detail unaddressed in the development of the lenses, microphones, and other parts that go into its video conferencing devices for an extra edge that competitors simply can't match. There's a reason Logitech holds a commanding 70 percent share of the webcam market.
